In this lesson, we’ll learn places in the city and how to give directions! (Bu derste şehirdeki yerler ve yol tarif etmeyi öğreneceğiz!)

🧭 Giving Directions (Yol Tarif Etme)

💡 Kullanım: İngilizce’de yol tarif ederken emir kipi (imperative) kullanırız. Fiilin başına “please” ekleyerek daha kibar hale getirebiliriz.

📍 Prepositions of Place (Yer Edatları)

💡 Ne Zaman Kullanılır: Bir yerin konumunu belirtirken prepositions of place (yer edatları) kullanırız. Genelde “is” veya “are” ile birlikte kullanılır.

yanında, bitişiğinde

Örnek: The bank is next to the cafe.

Banka kafenin yanında.

Örnek: The school is opposite the park.

Okul parkın karşısında.

arasında (iki şey arasında)

Örnek: The hotel is between two shops.

Excuse me, where is the…?

Affedersiniz, … nerede?

→ Excuse me, where is the bank?

→ Affedersiniz, banka nerede?

… nasıl gidebilirim?

→ How can I get to the train station?

→ Tren istasyonuna nasıl gidebilirim?

Is there a… near here?

Buraya yakın … var mı?

→ Is there a supermarket near here?

→ Buraya yakın süpermarket var mı?

Could you tell me the way to…?

… yolunu söyler misiniz? (kibar)

→ Could you tell me the way to the museum?

→ Müzeye giden yolu söyler misiniz?

🗣️ Dialog Example (Diyalog Örneği)

Tourist: Excuse me, where is the library?
→ Affedersiniz, kütüphane nerede?

Local: Go straight on this street. Turn right at the traffic lights. The library is next to the bank, on your left.
→ Bu caddeden düz gidin. Trafik ışıklarında sağa dönün. Kütüphane bankanın yanında, solunuzda.

Tourist: How far is it?
→ Ne kadar uzakta?

Local: It’s about 5 minutes on foot.
→ Yürüyerek yaklaşık 5 dakika.

Tourist: Thank you very much!
→ Çok teşekkür ederim!

Local: You’re welcome.
→ Rica ederim.

📏 Distance & Time Expressions (Uzaklık & Zaman İfadeleri)

→ It’s very near / close. (Çok yakın.)

→ It’s far away. (Uzakta.)

→ It’s about 10 minutes walk. (Yaklaşık 10 dakika yürüyüş.)

→ It’s 2 blocks away. (2 blok uzakta.)
