Dilbilgisi notu: like, love, enjoy, hate, dislike, can’t stand fiillerinden sonra -ing (gerund) gelir:

• I like watching movies. (I like watch movies. ❌)
• She enjoys reading blogs. (She enjoys read blogs. ❌)

Örnek cümleler:

• I think action movies are exciting.

Agreeing and Disagreeing (Katılma ve Katılmama)

İki şey arasında tercih belirtmek için aşağıdaki kalıplar kullanılır:

Dilbilgisi notu:

• prefer + isim/gerund + to + isim/gerund: I prefer reading to watching TV.
• would rather + fiil (yalın) + than + fiil (yalın): I’d rather stay home than go out.

Soru kalıpları:

• Which do you prefer, action or comedy? — I prefer action.
• Would you rather watch a movie at home or at the cinema? — I’d rather go to the cinema.
• What’s your favourite type of movie? — My favourite is science fiction.

Soru kalıpları:

• What time is it? — It’s half past seven.
• What time does the movie start? — It starts at 8 o’clock.
• When is the show? — The show is at quarter to nine.

İngilizce’de tarih söylerken ordinal numbers (sıra sayıları) kullanılır:

Tarih söyleme:

• What’s the date today? — It’s March 13th. / It’s the thirteenth of March.
• When is the movie premiere? — It’s on April 5th.

Not: Tarih yazarken iki farklı format kullanılır:

• British: 13 March 2026 (gün + ay + yıl)
• American: March 13, 2026 (ay + gün + yıl)

Making an Invitation (Davet Etme)

Accepting (Kabul Etme) ve Refusing (Reddetme)

Ali: Hey, would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday?
Elif: Sure! What movie do you want to see?
Ali: How about the new action movie? I heard it’s really exciting.
Elif: That sounds great! What time does it start?
Ali: It starts at half past seven.
Elif: Perfect! Let’s meet at the cinema at quarter past seven.
Ali: Great! See you on Saturday!

İngilizce’deki /t/ ve /θ/ sesleri Türk öğrenciler için karıştırılabilir.

Minimal Pairs:

İpucu: /θ/ sesini çıkarmak için dil ucunuzu hafifçe üst dişlerinizin arasına koyup nefes verin. Ses tonsuz olmalıdır (titreşim yok).

Film eleştirilerini okurken scanning (tarama) tekniği kullanılır — tüm metni okumak yerine belirli bilgiyi aranır.

Sample Film Review:

“The Time Traveller is a new sci-fi movie directed by James Walker. The story is about a young scientist who discovers a way to travel through time. The special effects are amazing and the acting is great. I think it’s one of the best movies of the year. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves science fiction. Showing at City Cinema, starting at 7:30 PM.”
