Birini tanımlarken boy, kilo, saç, göz gibi fiziksel özellikleri kullanırız.

Hair (Saç)

Sıralama kuralı: uzunluk + şekil + renk → She has long, straight, black hair.

Eyes & Face (Göz ve Yüz)

• Eye colour: blue, green, brown, hazel (ela), dark
• Face: round (yuvarlak), oval (oval), thin (ince)
• Other: beard (sakal), moustache (bıyık), freckles (çil), glasses (gözlük)

• She is tall and slim. (Boy + vücut yapısı)
• He has short, curly, brown hair. (Saç)
• She has big, blue eyes. (Göz)
• He is kind and hardworking. (Karakter)
• She looks like her mother. (Benzerlik)
• He wears glasses. (Gözlük takıyor)

Örnek tanımlama:

“Atatürk was a tall, well-built man with blue eyes and light brown hair. He was very brave, hardworking, and intelligent. He was also a great leader and a visionary person.”

İnsanları karşılaştırırken comparative ve superlative yapıları kullanırız.

Comparative vs Superlative

Örnek cümleler:

• Einstein was more creative than many scientists of his time.
• Atatürk is the most inspirational leader in Turkish history.
• She is taller than her sister, but her sister is more outgoing.
• In my opinion, kindness is more important than intelligence.

İlham veren kişiler hakkında fikir belirtirken:

Present Continuous Tense (Şimdiki Zaman), şu anda devam eden eylemleri anlatmak için kullanılır.

Özne + am/is/are + fiil-ing

-ing ekleme kuralları:

• Çoğu fiil: + ing → playing, reading, eating
• -e ile bitenler: e düşer + ing → making, writing, dancing
• Kısa ünlü + sessiz harf: son harf çiftlenir + ing → running, swimming, sitting
• -ie ile bitenler: ie → y + ing → die → dying, lie → lying

Zaman ifadeleri: now, right now, at the moment, at present, currently, Look! Listen!

Resimdeki eylemleri anlatma:

• In this picture, the woman is helping an old man.
• The children are playing in the park.
• He is giving a speech to the audience.

/ŋ/ sesi, İngilizce’de “ng” harfleriyle yazılan nazal bir sestir. Türkçedeki “banka” kelimesindeki “n” sesine benzer.

Örnekler:

• bringing → /brɪŋɪŋ/
• singing → /sɪŋɪŋ/
• thinking → /θɪŋkɪŋ/
• amazing → /əmeɪzɪŋ/

Dikkat: /ŋ/ sesi “n” + “g” değil, tek bir sestir. Dil arkası yumuşak damağa temas eder ve hava burundan çıkar.
