Kullanım
“Used to” geçmişte düzenli yapılan ama artık yapılmayan eylemler veya geçmişte var olan ama artık olmayan durumlar için kullanılır.

İngilizce’deki “th” harfleri iki farklı ses üretir:

Question 1: Rewrite using “used to”: “In the past, people wrote letters to communicate.”
Answer: “People used to write letters to communicate.”
Question 2: Make a negative sentence: “I / like / spinach” (used to)
Answer: “I didn’t use to like spinach.” (but now I do)
Question 3: Compare a Turkish and a Japanese tradition.
Sample Answer: “In Turkey, we have a tradition of serving Turkish coffee to guests as a sign of hospitality. Similarly, in Japan, the tea ceremony (Chanoyu) is a way of showing respect and hospitality through tea. However, the Japanese ceremony is much more ritualized and follows very specific steps.”
Question 4: Is “th” in “think” voiced (/ð/) or voiceless (/θ/)?
Answer: Voiceless /θ/. The vocal cords don’t vibrate. Compare with “the” which is voiced /ð/.
Question 5: Write 3 sentences about things you used to do as a child but don’t do anymore.
Sample:
“I used to ride my bicycle in the park every evening.”
“I used to collect stickers and trade them with my friends.”
